How Twitter Helped Me Take Myself Seriously

Gather ’round, kids. It’s time for a story.

Everyone knows about Twitter. It’s huge. It changed the internet, and social media as we know it.

But, for me, Twitter has done something different, and profoundly more personal. It allowed me to take myself seriously as a person, and as an adult.

The Best Headphones For Students: Broke-Ass Edition

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a bit a of a music junkie. I’m always on the lookout for new bands, and I love blasting my favorites over my 5.1 system. However, it’s a sad fact of life that other people don’t always want to listen to the same music, so last year I went looking for some good headphones to invest in. Well, that little quest turned out to be quite the rabbit hole… Read More →

While reading an article over at Mashable on Wednesday, I learned that some big changes were coming to Facebook. Sure, the changes to the News Feed were already pretty big, but the article hinted that these changes were just the beginning; something much, much bigger would be unveiled on Thursday.

Sure enough, Facebook announced something huge on Thursday: the Timeline. Read More →

Energetic Album Of The Week: Dead Letter Circus – “This Is The Warning”

When I was, oh, maybe 14 years old, I went to a movie with my family at the Carmike movie theater in Des Moines. It was the same movie theater we had always gone to, so no big deal, right? Right – except for one thing. You know that fun little intro thingy they play before the previews? Does An Opportunity Scare The Crap Out Of You? Take It!

Sometimes an opportunity will present itself to you, but you won’t be sure that you have the skills or know-how to do well at it. Basically, you don’t think you’re “good enough” to do it. When you feel like this, I’d encourage you to take the opportunity anyway. Opportunities like this stretch us to our limits, and it is at our limits where we grow the most. Read More →

Ok, so here’s the deal; I’m working on some high-level projects for College Info Geek that will take a long time to complete. Add to that my job as an RA, my second job at the career center, my classes, and my girlfriend who keeps on requesting this odd thing called my “undivided attention” (what’s that?) – you probably get the picture. Posting every day is a little difficult.

Fear not, however, as my less frequent posting will result in more awesomeness down the road. For now, check out this video. If you’re on the internet on a Saturday, you’re probably not doing homework anyway, so watching some dudes take out terrorists by shooting the raw power of dubstep at them isn’t going to hurt, right?
