So picture this: you’re sitting at your desk one day when, all the sudden, you’re stricken with the uncontrollable urge to go and purchase the movie Redline on Blu-ray.

Who could blame you? The movie’s ridiculously fluid and vibrant animation, dynamic characters, and edge-of-your seat plot make it one of the greatest anime spectacles ever released upon the unsuspecting throngs of humanity.

There’s just one problem: you don’t have the $15 to buy Redline.

It’s August. School is coming soon. You’ve tried to save money on textbooks and keep other nagging expenses from leaving you destitute, but your money seems to be leaving you like water out of cupped hands that suddenly developed tremors.

All is lost.

Or is it?

What if… what if you had a snazzy $30 Best Buy gift card in your pocket? What would you do with that epic buying power? You’d be out buying Redline, that’s what.

So yeah. Oddly-specific example aside, that’s what’s on the table today; Best Buy has teamed up with yours truly to offer up four $30 gift cards to my lovely readers.

However, these gift cards are just scraps of icing on a very large cake compared to what else is at stake here – and that’s what I really want to point you towards…

The Best Buy College Innovator Fund

As a huge proponent of student entrepreneurship, I couldn’t pass up the chance to tell you about an opportunity to win up to $50,000 for your own project.

That’s what the Best Buy Innovator Fund is about. It’s a chance to get your tech-based innovation noticed, funded, and mentored as well. Have you been working on a kick-ass tech project that you know will turn heads? Or, do you just have an awesome idea that you’d like to get started on? Now’s the time to tell the world about it.

Here are the details:

From now until August 14, you can submit a 2-minute video about your tech project or idea at the Best Buy College Innovator Facebook app.

A panel of judges, including the president of Best Buy and the founder of Pandora, will review the ideas and select winners for the following prizes:

  • One $50,000 grand prize, which also includes a mentorship opportunity
  • Two $20,000 runner-up prizes
  • Additionally, a $10,000 prize will be awarded to the fan-favorite idea

As I’ve said before, take the opportunities that present themselves to you. If you’re someone who’s working on a tech-based project, this is an opportunity you should take.

So go make that video!
